You will get an email with instructions, usually you meet the tour guide very early in the morning outside of the hotel lobby, you tell them your name and tour and you get a bracelet and instructions to board a specific bus. If you eat outside you need transportation plus the cost of the restaurant, which can be pricey. Plus, eating out on the street can be risky as far as quality/taste/food poisoning/cost. Most resorts have multiple restaurants and some open at certain times, others require RSVP which you can easily do at least 1-2 days before (places fill up fast). It was all you can eat!
